WITCHES: 4 Stars From Rainbow Reviews

  • Dec. 1st, 2008 at 10:33 AM

Hey Everyone,

My novel, WITCHES: The Written Word Book One, got an amazing review from Rainbow Reviews. Check it out:

“Witches” by Jamieson Wolf is an excellent paranormal story. It is well written with fast pacing, an evil villain, and a fascinating premise. The story is filled with fanciful creatures, both good and bad, and some are explicitly shown while others are suggested to great effect.

The two main characters are both engaging; they are masculine and sexy and they have some very passionate sex. Jace is a male witch and as such has more information and more insight than Owen who is human and a writer who, for unknown reasons, has always been able to see the witches. The description of him seeing the witches was intriguing and a bit eerie. Although at times, Owen seemed to be taken on this journey rather than an active participant, this ultimately works and adds power to the final confrontation.

Most fascinating was the theme of ‘the power of the storyteller’. This played on some very ancient themes that resonated nicely throughout. While appearing to be a simple story, there was actually much depth and interest that made it very compelling.

Dead Words - A Twitter Short Story

  • Dec. 1st, 2008 at 10:32 AM

Hey Everyone!

I’ve been wanting to write short stories again for a while now.

When I started writing, I started with short stories. Lately, having written novels and other kinds of books, short stories have fallen by the wayside. I have been thinking of taking them up again.

Reading Just After Sunset makes me realize how much I miss writing short stories. So, to ease myself into writing them again, I thought I would try something different.

Have you all heard of Twitter? It’s a cool site where you can post random updates (no more than 155 characters long) about what is going on in your life. You can find me at www.twitter.com/jamiesonwolf if you’d like to look me up.

Well, I was thinking about it and I thought it would be a neat idea to write a short story this way, or perhaps a novel. No one has ever done that before, that I’m aware of.

And so I present to you Dead Words, the first Twitter Short Story. You can find it here:

http://twitter.com/deadwords

I’ll post an update or two each day and hopefully, in the end, have a story that I can work with and be proud of. I hope you all join up and check out my writing experiment.

It’ll be neat to see where it goes!

Interview!

 Hey Y'all,

Just a quick note that I've been interviewed about my writing here:

It's a short five question interview but it gives you a little idea of what I write and what to expect in the near future...

Enjoy!

Valentine's Promise

  • Aug. 9th, 2008 at 9:46 AM

Currently I'm writing the sequel to my first gay historical romance novel Valentine. The sequel is called Valentine's Promise.

It's going pretty well, even after having stopped writing due to a delay. I've got the plot shaped out in my mind and am hoping to submit it to Coblestone Press for their Christmas line.

To learn a bit more about Valentine, you can check out the blog at
www.valentineanovel.blogspot.com There you'll find an excerpt, book trailers, free downloads and more!

Promoting your work is always a hard thing to do but you just have to keep at it and hope that it helps those sales.

Valentine's Promise pickes up a few weeks after Valentine and centres around Valentine and Asterius' changing relationship. I'm surprised at how well it's going and how well the research is coming along. I want the sequel to feel more authentic, with a few twists, so I'm making sure to get everything historically correct.

Who knew that writing gay romance could be so engaging?

In the Beginning

  • Aug. 9th, 2008 at 9:43 AM

In the beginning there was the word....

I'm never very good at keep a journal. I'm very good at blogging and try to post something every day. You can view my blog at
www.jamiesonwolf.blogspot.com

But I'm horrible at keeping a journal.

Most of this has to do with the fact that I think my life is pretty ordinary and I don't know that anyone would want to read about it. So I've come up with a compromise. I'll write about what I know.

I'll write about being an author and a writer. At least that's interesting. (I hope!)

So stay tuned to this journal for my day to day life as a writer and someone who is in love with the written word!

Cheers,

Jamieson
